Can someone please explain my eye test results to me?

The optician said i was short sighted in my right eye so Glasses would help but i really don’t understand the results!!

The sph part is your main shortsighted number. The cyl shows that you have a little bit more shortsightedness in one direction, the axis indicates that direction (80 degrees).

So your right eye is a little short sighted. The amount is 0.5 Diopters. The minus sign shows it is shortsighted, not longsigted. A diopter is the inverse of a metre, so your best point of focus without glasses is 2m (1/2m = 0.5) anything further away starts to get blurry.
