Finding the right pair of eyeglasses for your children can be a very difficult task. The doctor might also recommend a specific frame for the eyeglasses. But normally, the parent, child and optician will make the decision regarding the kind of frame, which has to be selected for your glasses.

Safety is the most important aspect, which needs to be taken into account while buying glasses for your child. They should be a perfect fit and they should not be too tight or too loose. The arms of the glasses should be long enough that they will go behind the ears and it should also fit properly on top of the nose. There should be plenty of space between the lenses and the eyes to create a passage for air to come through easily. The glass should have spring hinges so that you can be sure that they will not break easily. Plastic or wire is normally used to make glasses for children. A male child will need glasses with a double bridge while a girl child will need them with a single bridge. Children usually like to have them like what their parents wear and they will want something, which looks similar.

Previously people felt that plastic was the right choice while making glasses for children since they were more durable and would not break very easily. But nowadays a lot of metal frames are also being made for children. Every child will have a different reaction to every kind of metal. A frame, which has been made using nickel alloys, will have a different reaction. It is better to take some time and select the right frame for your child. Children who need to wear glasses throughout the day should themselves two sets of glasses. Then they will have a spare set always available in case the other one breaks. The second pair of glasses can also be sports goggles. Even Prescription Sunglasses can be used.
